Larsen on 'issue between player and management' at Magesi

Clinton Larsen has explained the reason behind Lebogang Mabotja's departure from Magesi FC and hinted that the former Sekhukhune United defender could be joining a rival club in the Betway Premiership.

Mabotja was reported to have signed with Magesi a few weeks ago after parting ways with Babina Noko at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old was linked with a move to AmaZulu FC, before joining Larsen's troops for pre-season training.

According to the head coach, Mabotja could be headed to Bloemfontein to team up with Marumo Gallants.

The former Manning Rangers captain says he is already looking at finding a replacement for the player after the latest developments.

"It was very sad for me as a coach. I am the one who recruited him, but it was an issue between the player and the management, so I wish him all the best," revealed Larsen, speaking during the Betway Premiership launch in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

"I think he has joined Marumo, if I'm not mistaken. Life goes on for me as a coach. I have to look at another signing for that position. It is unfortunate, that he spent six to seven weeks training, [and now] having to lose him so close to the league starting. It's difficult. But it is what it is, and we just have to continue pushing on," he added.

Magesi open their Betway Premiership season with a Limpopo Derby fixture against Sekhukhune at Peter Mokaba Stadium on September 18.
