Parker still shows peak sharpness despite new coaching role

Bernard Parker may now have become a coach, but his physical capabilities would suggest that he is still at the peak of his powers.

The 38-year-old transitioned from being a player to becoming a coach, with it having been announced at the end of the 2023/24 season that he would be in charge of TS Galaxy's DStv Diski Challenge team.

While it is considered essential for footballers these days to ensure that they get regular strength and conditioning sessions, it does not seem be of terrible importance for coaches or managers to do the same.

They are not the ones who are tasked with the responsibility for covering an entire football field for 90 minutes, after all.

However, Parker seems to be keen on maintaining his physical sharpness despite going into the new season in a different role.

"A quick workout is better than no workout, no matter how busy our life is," he wrote in a post on Instagram.

Speaking about his transition to coaching,

?"Yeah,  it's been a great transition I would say, because I've been preparing myself throughout my playing career for this moment," the former attacker said.

"And I'm glad I'm one of the lucky players who made that transition immediately from playing into technical. And I'm very excited.

"it's the same, the same as when you started your football career, you know, all that excitement.

"You can't wait to be at training, to get going at training and improve.

"Same as a coach now. I can't wait to get to training and improve the players, and improve myself as well, as a coach."
