DENIED: Man Utd drop points at Palace

Manchester United were unable to claim back-to-back wins in the Premier League after a goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday evening

Noussair Mazraoui and Alejandro Garnacho were recalled with Marcus Rashford on the bench for United who came off a 7-0 pasting of Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Having starred in the aforementioned clash in midweek, Garnacho looked to continue where he left and attempted a curling finish to the far post but Dean Henderson's produced remarkable reflexes.

Henderson again haunted his former club seconds apart when he held firm to parry a powerful header from Matthijs de Ligt off a corner by Christian Eriksen.

Only one team at this stage of the contest pushed forward and had a first-time effort from Garnacho off a surging cross come off the upright before Fernandes hit the follow-up against the post too.

The respective charges turned out after the interval continuing to attempt the breakthrough, but still battled to get any telling opportunities as it remained tight.

Palace had introduced Ismail Sarr before the second half commenced, with Jean-Phillipe Mateta sacrificed for the Senegalese international.

The Red Devils missed a glaring chance over ten minutes in when Fernandes skewed a loose ball in the area high and wide of the mark from good work by Amad Diallo.

Henderson, though, continued to make himself big a while later and made a goal-line stop to parry a curling effort from Garnacho into touch and behind.

At the other end, Palace came to the fore with Eddie Nketiah's teasing strike drawing a save from Andre Onana who then made another stop at the same time off Sarr.

More firepower from United were added with Rasmus Hojlund on for Diallo later on before Manuel Ugarte took the place of Eriksen.

However, the deadlock continued to elude the Red Devils as well as the Eagles and goalless it finished between the two sides.
