South Africa went unbeaten in the qualifiers, finishing top of their group with 14 points after four wins and two draws.

Broos' side scored 16 goals and conceded only five, with their goal difference of +11 being the third-best during the qualifiers, behind Morocco (+24) and Algeria (+14).
With Bafana firing on all cylinders, several players stood out during their road to AFCON 2025, with Teboho Mokoena's three goals in qualifying matching those of renowned goalscorers Sadio Mane of Senegal and Vincent Aboubakar of Cameroon.
More impressively, however, South African winger Oswin Appollis was the joint-best creative player with four assists in six games, according to ESPN.
Only Mozambique's Bruno Langa matched this record, making them the joint-top assist-makers in the qualifiers.
Appollis made his Bafana debut almost exactly a year ago, on 21 November 2023, in a 2-0 defeat to Rwanda.
The Polokwane City star was then named in South Africa's 2023 AFCON squad, where he went on to win a bronze medal with the team in the Ivory Coast earlier this year.
To date, the 23-year-old has made 11 appearances for his country, contributing two goals and five assists in total, as per Transfermarkt.
Elsewhere, the player was heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs during the recent transfer window, but the move never materialised, while it was also reported there were potential suitors from other clubs on the African continent.
