An African giant's boss has now confirmed that his side are looking to officially sign a former Liverpool star in January.
Last month, it was reported by Egyptian media that Zamalek SC were keen on signing ex-Liverpool player Ovie Ejaria.

It was believed that the midfielder underwent trials at the club, but after he was assessed, the deal fell through as the midfielder failed to impress at the time.
It was also reported that Ejaria had undergone trials at Wayne Rooney's side, Plymouth Argyle, as well as Oxford United.
However, it has now been indicated that the 27-year-old could, in fact, join Zamalek, with the club seemingly making a U-turn on their initial decision.
Speaking in a CAF Champions League pre-match press conference, Zamalek manager Jose Gomes said that he hopes the player joins his side in early 2025.
"I hope Ovie Ejaria will be with us in January," said Gomes, according to Kora Plus.
Notably, the Liverpool academy graduate has been without a club since December 2023, when he parted ways with Reading FC. He also had spells at Sunderland and Rangers.
Zamalek's initial decision not to sign Ejaria in October was praised by Reading's head of operations, Mark Bowen, as he claimed that it would be a huge risk to hand the player a contract given his extensive injury history.
Bowen also advised that if Zamalek were to sign Ejaria, they should base his contract on the number of games he plays.
