Mayo scores as Ramovic climbs to the top

CR Belouizdad striker Khanyisa Mayo netted a superb goal from the edge of the opposition box to help his new boss, Sead Ramovic, climb to the top of the Algerian Ligue 1. WATCH!

Ramovic began his Belouizdad reign with a defeat last week, as his side lost 6-5 on penalties to MC Alger in the Algerian Super Cup final.

His league debut, however, couldn't have gone any better, as his side claimed a 3-0 victory over Kenchela on Wednesday night to move to the top of the Algerian Ligue 1 standings.

The South African star opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, which was followed by goals from his teammates Rezki Hamroune and Bilal Boukerchaoui in the 51st and 86th minutes, respectively.

Unfortunately, Mayo did not even finish the first half, as he was stretchered off the pitch 10 minutes after scoring due to an injury.

The former Cape Town City star has now scored five goals in his first 23 appearances in all competitions for Belouizdad, as per Transfermarkt.

Among the South African stars currently plying their trade in North African countries such as Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, Mayo now has the joint-most goals alongside Elias Mokwana of Esperance de Tunis.

Wydad Athletic Club star Cassius Mailula has only two goals, while Fagrie Lakay of Ceramica Cleopatra has four.
