The South African star was deemed to have violated regulations for the way he celebrated towards opposition fans during a match against Anorthosis on 15 February 2025.

According to Cypriot publication Kerkida.net, an official ruling on the incident confirmed a fine has been handed to "Mayambela Mihlali Samson, wearing shirt number 21, a player of Aris Limassol, for unsportsmanlike behaviour directed towards the west stand of the home team (provoking them), in violation of Article 4(c) of the CFA Disciplinary Regulations."

During the match in question, Aris Limassol beat Anorthosis 3-0, with Mayambela scoring his side's second goal and celebrating in front of the opposition supporters.

Mayambela's coach, Aliaksei Shpileuski, was also punished for his behaviour during that game, as he received a one-match suspension and a fine.

The value of the fines remains undisclosed.

Interestingly, Aris Limassol have since issued a somewhat cheeky response to Mayambela's fine.

The club took to their Instagram and posted a video compilation of Mayambela's passionate celebration, captioning it: "Mihlali Mayambela definitely knows how to celebrate."
