Match-going fan shot at stadium

An Al-Ittihad Club fan was seriously injured after shots were fired at supporters during a Libyan League encounter.

The African side have lodged an official complaint with the Attorney General and the Minister of Interior after a shocking incident in which one of their supporters was shot during their league clash against Al-Majd on Tuesday.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but tensions escalated when live ammunition was fired at fans by the Rapid Intervention Force, leaving a supporter in intensive care, according to Elbotola.

In a statement, the club strongly condemned the use of firearms against unarmed fans and demanded urgent action.

"The club's management and fans condemn and denounce the Rapid Intervention Force's actions of firing live ammunition at unarmed fans while they were cheering for their team in the match, seriously injuring a fan who was admitted to intensive care," it read.

"Through this statement, we ask the Attorney General and the Minister of Interior to open an urgent investigation, hold the perpetrators accountable, give everyone their due rights, and initiate criminal proceedings against them."

The incident took place on matchday nine of the Libyan Premier League, and perhaps overshadowed the debut of Mahmoud Kahraba, who joined the side from Al Ahly on a six-month loan deal during the January transfer window.
