The 36-year-old now has 11 goals and three assists since joining the Florida outfit in July, earning massive praise from his teammates, with many relishing the impact he has had on their side.

Inter Miami defender Kamal Miller has since admitted that he is so in awe of his new colleague that he often loses focus during games as a result.

"I just catch myself watching him instead of picking up on my assignment," he said after the 2-0 win on Sunday, according to Goal

"It's tough to stay focused when you have such a great presence."

There has been concerns over the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's fitness, though, with his manager Gerardo Martino recently stating how important it is to give the player some rest in the coming weeks.

On Sunday, Messi was brought on in only the 60th minute, and prior to the game, Martino said: "Leo and many other players are reaching an important physical limit and from today we will start to evaluate this – how do I face at least the next three games.

"You also have to take into account the large number of games that we played in 45, 50 days."
