Neymar breaks silence on 'shock' Al-Hilal exit

Following his abrupt departure from Saudi Pro League, Neymar Jr has broken his silence on the departure from Al-Hilal.

The Brazilian superstar finds himself a free agent after agreeing to terminate his contract with Al Hilal just 18 months into his Middle Eastern adventure.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Neymar will be making a return to the club where he first rose to prominence as a teenage sensation, Santos.

It has been suggested that the transfer is "imminent", with a verbal agreement believed to be in place.

"Formal steps to follow next week for final formula of the deal from Al Hilal and contracts to be checked. Neymar already said yes to the move," Romano said on X.

It is claimed that the deal will run until the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with an option for an additional year.

Santos, who recently reclaimed their place in Brazil's Serie A, are believed to be eagerly anticipating the return of their prodigal son.

Neymar's time at Al-Hilal was anything but smooth sailing. The forward joined the Saudi Pro League side in the summer of 2023 for a staggering €90 million after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite being one of the league's marquee signings, his tenure in Saudi Arabia was marred by misfortune. A cruciate ligament injury sustained on international duty with Brazil side-lined him for the majority of his stint.

Neymar has also broke silence on his exit from the club.

"To everyone at Al Hilal, to the fans, thank you! I gave everything to play and I wish we enjoyed better times on the pitch together," the Brazilian revealed on social media

"To Saudi, thank you for giving me and my family a new home and new experiences. I now know the real Saudi and have friends for life.

"I always felt your love and passion for the game. I will be following your journey ahead as a club and a country towards 2034.

"Your future will be incredible, special things are happening and I will always support you.

In total, Neymar made just seven appearances for the Saudi Pro League outfit. After recovering from injury, he found himself unregistered for league action, signalling the club's intention to move on.
