Broos 'in talks' with European club for new role

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is reportedly in talks with a European club over a new role.

According to Hln.be, Belgian Pro League outfit Club Brugge are looking to bring in the Bafana tactician as the new Technical Director.

The Belgian was spotted in stands at the Jan Breydelstadion during Brugge's 2-1 defeat to Anderlecht last weekend.

The report adds that the Belgian club have drawn up a new structure for the club under CEO Bob Madou, with Broos being touted as the ideal candidate for the Technical Director role.

Broos is no stranger to Club Brugge, having made over 150 appearances for the club as a player while he also was the head coach between 1991 and 1997, where he won two First Division titles.

The 71-year-old, who reportedly lives near the club, still has two years remaining on his current deal with the South African national side.

After the Africa Cup of Nations, Broos revealed he is still happy to see out the remaining two years of his contract with Bafana.

"If Hugo Broos is leaving South Africa then it will be because the federation (SAFA) decided to leave. That's all," Broos told reporters last month.

"I'm happy with the job. I'm happy with the team, not always happy with the media but I take it with and I hope people will be more behind the team because they deserve it."
