The win also sees the Masandawana ladies team set a number of records as they joined their male counterparts in becoming champions of Africa.

In an emotional post-match interview, Mgcoyi broke down in tears as she praised the team's effort in their historic achievement.

"Firstly I'd like to thank God for the strength he gave me," Mgcoyi said.

"Thinking of myself as a striker since the beginning of the tournament, I hadn't scored a goal.

"So now I believe that when they say it's not how you start but how you finish, thank you.

"I'm just so emotional, I'm so emotional because this is what we wanted," Mgcoyi added before breaking down in tears.

"Thank you so much!"
