History makers | Mamelodi Sundowns ladies receive presidential praise following CAF Champions League triumph

The triumphant Mamelodi Ladies Team received congratulations from president Cyril Ramaphosa after making history by lifting the inaugural CAF Women's Champions League.

Goals by Chuene Morifi and Andisiwe Mgcoyi ensured a 2-0 victory over Ghana's Hasaacas Ladies as the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies lifted the continental competition at 30 June Stadium on Friday evening.

The win also sees the Masandawana ladies team set a number of records as they joined their male counterparts in becoming champions of Africa.

Head coach Jerry Tshabalala's side are the first team to win a continental treble in Africa.

As they clinched the prestigious CAF Champions League incredibly without conceding a single goal. While also lifting the Hollywoodbets Super League trophy and previously the Cosafa region trophy.

Shortly after their historic achievement, President Cyril Ramaphosa alongside names such as Pitso Mosimane and men's co-coach Rulani Mokwena sent their congratulations.
