Chippa United assistant coach Thabo September has weighed in on what his former mentor Gavin Hunt said recently about the DStv Diski Challenge.
Although it provided a perfect springboard to top-class players like Relebohile Mofokeng, Mduduzi Tshabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi, and Mohau Nkota; Hunt said the DDC still had some shortfalls.
September explained why he believes the popular football league sometimes lacks competitiveness.
"It can't be all right at a league like DDC," September tells KickOff.

"There are players that are getting promoted, and there are players that get left out.
"In the DDC, competitiveness is not really at the same level for every player in that leave league. As a player, you have to drive yourself to move on.
"You have players that are under 23 playing in the ABC Motsepe League; their players are tougher because it's more physical compared to the DDC.
"It's not gonna be 100% right, but it's a good start, both the ABC Motsepe League and the DDC prepare players well.
"It's just that there is no relegation in the DDC. So that's the shortfall of it. There is no competition.
"In some teams, there is no drive, some teams don't focus on development, they just put together a group of young players and take them to a match just to tick a box.
"And then you find clubs that take DDC seriously, and that makes the league more competitive," he added.

"But if there was relegation in the DDC, every club would be serious about DDC. But at the moment not everyone is serious.
"Whereas, in the ABC Motsepe League, there's relegation, so every club is fighting for their lives. So the ABC Motsepe is getting stronger because of that.
"The ABC Motsepe League is more competitive than the DDC."
