Man Utd denied victory after Onana's errors

Andre Onana made a couple of costly errors as Manchester United drew 2-2 with Olympique Lyon in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg.

For the first time since taking charge at United, coach Ruben Amorim has named the same starting line-up for back-to-back matches.

The two sides were meeting for the first time since the 2007/2008 season when the Red Devils secured a 2-1 win on aggregate in the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.

After dominant opening display, Lyon took the lead on 28 minutes when Thiago Almada's free-kick evaded everyone and sailed into the far corner for his first goal of the tournament.

The Red Devils took a while to get going but they restored parity on the stroke of halftime as Manuel Ugarte's volley into the box was nodded home by Lenny Yoro, who opened his account for the club.

Lyon came out for the second period with a similar approach to the first and managed to carve out a couple chances, but Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso failed to take advantage in the opening 15 minutes.

Goalkeeper Lucas Perri came to Lyon's rescue with ten minutes left on the clock as he produced a fine reflex save to keep out Alejandro Garnacho's first-time volley after some good work by Patrick Dorgu down the left flank.

United got the second goal on 88 minutes as substitute Joshua Zirkzee rose above his marker to head home a wonderful cross from captain Bruno Fernandes.

Lyon had the final say though, as Rayan Cherki popped up with the equaliser in second-half stoppage time after pouncing on Onana's spill in the six-yard area.
