Chiefs defender informed about risk

Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove has been told that his international career is now at risk with his prospects of playing at Kaizer Chiefs this season clouded.

Dove remains at Chiefs but hasn't played this season due to injury.

The 30-year-old suffered an injury during the pre-season camp in Turkey after being recalled during off-season when he was already in the Mambas squad heading to the COSAFA Cup.

Besides the issue of his medical clearance, there is the matter of his registration with his status unclear with the club already having five foreign players.

Chiefs have Inacio Miguel (Angola), Fiacre Ntwari (Rwanda), Thatayaone Ditlhokwe (Botswana), Edson Castillo (Venezuela), and Glody Makabi Lilepo as the five foreign players registered.

"It was a celebration when he signed for Chiefs because he went on to play a lot of games in his first season," says retired Mozambican defender Helder 'Mano-Mano' Muianga.

"It made sense that he got to be in the national team and even went to the AFCON finals.

"The expectation was that he would still be in the squad up to now, but he dropped out last season and is now at risk of not being considered for the next.

"It is unfortunate that for Chiefs as a big team, when you get injured, it is tough getting back because the club keeps moving forward," says Mano-Mano, who also played in the PSL for Manning Rangers, Black Leopards, Dynamos, and Jomo Cosmos.
