Wisdom of Solomons on Chiefs' Nabi project

Kaizer Chiefs defender Dillan Solomons has opened up on working with Nasreddine Nabi and reveals how the players have been reacting to the Tunisian-Belgian's coaching style.

After a drawn-out pursuit stretching over a season, Chiefs eventually landed the signature of Nabi and his technical team ahead of 2024/25.

The former AS FAR mentor arrived with a high reputation, having won a double treble at the helm of Tanzania powerhouse Young Africans.

Now 18 matches into his stint, the Soweto giants have seven wins to show, accompanied by the taste of seven defeats in the Betway Premiership.

Despite their league woes, they are in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup.

Although Nabi has enlisted the services of a translator - a role sometimes occupied by assistant coach Cedric Kaze - Solomons reckons nothing is lost in translations

"Yeah, I think the players do understand what the coach wanted," the speedy wingback told journalists at the last eight Nedbank Cup draw.

"I think he makes it very clear to each and every player in training and also in meetings.

"You have your role and you have to understand it, so he will make you understand it. You need to ask questions. That's the type of coach he is. If you don't understand it, he is not someone to shy away from. You should go and ask these questions.

"English is a bit challenging, but he will try and explain it in the best way possible and I think the players do understand what he wants from them," added Solomons.
