REVEALED: Nabi’s financial escape route from Moroccan contract

The details of how Nasreddine Nabi will be able to get out of his contract at Moroccan club FAR Rabat have been gathered.

Nabi will take over as the head coach at Chiefs upon completing his duties at FAR Rabat, where he has a cup final in the Throne Cup outstanding.

His arrival at Naturena will be determined by when the cup final is played, and the best possible date could be this Sunday, though this will be confirmed by the King's committee.

Raja Casablanca play Mouloudia Oujda in the other second semi-final on Tuesday night.

The Throne Cup holds significance in that beyond offering Nabi a chance to lift silverware after missing out on the league title, it also has financial rewards.

That money will come in handy in settling the Tunisian-Belgian's exit from this scenic city on the edges of the Atlantic Ocean in favour of switching to his new base in the south of Johannesburg.

Fact of the matter is that Nabi still has a running contract with the 13-time Botola Pro League champions.

However, in agreeing to a deal with Chiefs which will come with better perks, Nabi has merely activated a clause in his contract for his departure.

Nabi will pay the army club two months' worth of his salary from his pocket as compensation to get out of his contract.

This is what 'The Militarians' will have also paid if the decision to cut ties had come from them.

Such clauses are prevalent in the game.

Nabi is earning a gross of 30 000 Euro (approx. R582 000) at FAR Rabat, which means compensation from his pocket to get his way out will come up to about R1,16 million.

According to this arrangement, it means Chiefs will not be directly paying the Moroccans any money to get Nabi out of his contract, which was due to expire in June 2025.

This was influential in making the Chiefs deal happen.

Amakhosi have also bowed down on Nabi's request to bring his own complete technical team, which was a point of disagreement during negotiations last year when the two parties held talks.

Chiefs engaged Nabi after he left Young Africans – where he won six trophies in two years – but failed to get into bed.

Nabi's contract in Morocco stipulates that he will get rewarded for lifting silverware and that means money will flow into his bank account should he lift the Throne Cup.

Despite failing to defend the league title, Nabi achieved qualification for the CAF Champions League – which also comes with rewards.
