SCENES: Nap time for angry Super Eagles

Arguably the biggest story in Africa football this week, the Nigeria national team were left with no choice but to nap on the benches of a Libyan airport. Here's a look at the some of the scenes.

The story

The Super Eagles' travel arrangements for their second clash against Libya in the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers were completely derailed on Sunday, as the national team captain William Troost-Ekong claimed that they were left stranded at the airport for more than 12 hours.

The matter has since grabbed worldwide attention, as outlets in Europe and the Middle East have since latched onto the story.

Nigeria have since threatened to boycott the fixture, stating that their intention is to go home and not honour the fixture anymore.

Unsurprisingly, the Nigerian stars looked exhausted during the whole ordeal, with a number of them seen napping on the cold benches of the airport in Al Abraq, which is said to be two hours away from their initial destination of Benghazi.

Striker Victor Boniface also revealed that mini bus taxis were later provided for them to travel but the players were reluctant to border them, as their intention is to leave Libya entirely.

It is rather an unfortunate reality for the Nigeria stars, with many of them are already accustomed to a high standard of traveling to games for their respective clubs abroad.

The Super Eagles are accusing the Libyan Football Federation of unhand tactics, while CAF have since issued a formal statement on the matter.
