Known simply as Jairo, the 1.9-metre tall defender last played for Treze FC in his hometown of Brazil in September this year, and was released in November.
According to Spurs head coach Vladislav Heric, the 28-year-old is already in Cape Town and could train with the rest of his new teammates on Friday as they prepare for their next match against Jomo Cosmos.
"We are done with signing, we are waiting for one Brazilian central defender. He is about to clear up himself at the corona test, and he's going to be available tomorrow," Heric confirms to snl24.com/kickoff.
"We signed him, but that was yesterday I believe. His name is Jairo de Souza. He came from Brazil. The contract I believe is two years."
Spurs are currently fourth on the NFD table with four points from two matches.
"Yah the team is coming together, the young players are working very hard and they are jumping up now," Heric says.
"There's some improvement in some players. We are still not scoring enough goals but soon we will open the door. We are creating chances but hopefully we get our strikers right."
