Cape Town Spurs registered a point on their return to South African football with Riyaad Norodien finding the net in their GladAfrica Championship opener against Polokwane City.
Spurs were reborn during the off-season after AFC Ajax sold their majority 51 percent shares they had in Ajax Cape Town after they missed out on promotion to the top-flight for a second consecutive season.
And they nearly got off to the perfect start when academy graduate Norodien, who returned to the club in the off-season after stints with Orlando Pirates, Platinum Stars, Cape Town City and Cape Umoya, found the net in the 77th minute.
However, the lead lasted barely a minute as Mpho Mvalese equalised for Rise and Shine, who are aiming for an immediate return to the DStv Premiership.

The result at Cape Town Stadium in Vladislav Heric's first game in charge was mirrored on the other side of the city as Cape Town All Stars also kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw at Parow Park.
JDR Stars took the lead through Temptation Chiwunga in the 75th minute before Lucky Setelele netted the equaliser ten minutes before full-time for the hosts.
GladAfrica Championship results:
Cape Town Spurs 1-1 Polokwane City (Norodien 77', Mvalese 78')
