Josef Zinnbauer talks key week for Orlando Pirates

The Pirates coach says he is aware of how important a period they have ahead of them as they seek to negotiate their way into the Nedbank Cup final and seal their place in the CAF Confederation Cup last eight.

Pirates have the high hurdle of Mamelodi Sundowns standing in front of them in the delayed Nedbank Cup quarter-final to be played on Thursday and should they jump past that stage they will then face off with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila to decide who meets either Pretoria Callies or Chippa United in the final.

"All games are important, and we have a chance to win them and next we play against the best team in the league, but we have to play football since we have a chance. This is a special week and a top week for us," acknowledges Zinnbauer ahead of Thursday's meeting with Sundowns.

Next week they then face ES Setif in a match that would guarantee their place in the quarter-finals with a victory.

Pirates have won both games at home and are still unbeaten in the group.

"We have to focus and give full concentration in the games that we still have to play and then we will be happy to get into the quarter-finals [of the Confederation Cup]. From there we will be able to see which opponent is coming when you have seen what has happened in the other groups where there are good teams in the first and second positions.

"Our group has one of the strongest teams in it but we are happy we have taken the points especially at home where we have taken all three points. We are also unbeaten up to now and I hope we keep going forward.

"We have not always the best performance but in football the result is always important. Sometimes you have a good performance and lose. We also have the chance and if you play in this group normally you have a good way for the next step, but we must focus on the next games.

"For the next week I hope we get our injured players back because next week we are going to the best team in the league. Then I hope by the time we play our international match we have more players because we need the rest with all the travelling and number of games that we have played.

"You need more guys so that we make changes just like today we gave Tyson [Thulani Hlatshwayo] a rest plus we have five to six internationals with their national team some of whom came back injured and we couldn't work with them," says Zinnbauer.
