Lehlohonolo Nonyane put off family accident to help Tshakhuma beat Mamelodi Sundowns in Nedbank Cup semi-final

The reason Tshakuma Tsha Madzhivhandila FC captain Lehlohonolo Nonyane could not hold his tears following their victory over Mamelodi Sundowns has now been revealed.

The Limpopo side managed to reach their first ever cup final, within less than a year since taking over Bidvest Wits' Premiership status.

Nonyane was seen bawling his eyes out after the final spot-kick that sealed their passage to the final, where they will meet Chippa United at Free State Stadium on May 8.

The club's media liaison officer Rufus Matsema has revealed to snl24.com/kickoff that the former Wits defender experienced something tragic leading up to the game.

"Let me tell you where the emotions came from… The day before the game, his wife and children were involved in an accident," Matsema explains.

"We allowed him to go home. After that, he returned for the game. Everyone survived [the car accident], although there are still aches and pains.

"I don't know how to say it... It's a heart of a true soldier. Even after game we said, 'Go and see your family'; he said he will be back at training on Wednesday.

"But it shows that the guy is patriotic to his team. You know a lot of people would have chosen to be with their family because of the problem but he said, no, let me go and play and then I'll come and see you. And he has done exactly that."
