Amajita minus Tercious Malepe in U-20 AFCON opener against Cameroon in Zambia

Malepe will be serving a one-match suspension following the second yellow card he received in the qualifiers against Lesotho in June last year.

Head coach Thabo Senong brushed off the setback.

“We are fully aware of Malepe’s suspension, and we have prepared accordingly. We have addressed this in our last few training sessions and believe that the players will not struggle in his absence,” said Senong.

“We have obviously had to make some changes in defence – we have shifted players to fill up his position, but we are confident that our strategy will work against Cameroon, who we know are no pushovers.”

Amajita will be led by Teboho Mokoena, with goalkeeper Mondli Mpoto serving as vice-captain for the game.

The Group B clash between Amajita and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will kick off at 18h00. Earlier, Senegal will face off with Sudan at 15h00.

The matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport 9.
