“It will be like a dream come true if it pans out like that. Having a good tournament and then cap it all up with the title, that would be fantastic,” said the 19-year-old Singh, who hit a hat-trick in the semi-finals against Angola last night to take his tally to five for the competition.
“We just need to go there and give it our best. We are a good, all-round side and on a good day can do wonders to make the country proud.
“It would be nice to add a few more goals in the final and in the process help my team win the title but even if I don’t score but help the team win the championship, that is the most important thing.”
The Sweden-based forward went on to downplay talk comparing him with Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy
“McCarthy is one of my heroes and has done wonders for the country and I think it is premature for people to start comparing me with Benni. But who knows, if I continue to work hard, get a contract with a bigger club in Europe, one thing can lead to the other and...”
He added: “My principle for now is to remain grounded, keep working hard and I know when I do such, normally in such instances the rest of the things will take care of themselves.”
The final will kick off at 17h30 (15h30 GMT), with Angola set to contest the bronze medal with DR Congo at 11h00 (09h00 GMT).
