Amajita coach Thabo Senong has named a star-studded squad for the event, which includes Bidvest Wits attacker Phakamani Mahlambi and other rising stars Luther Singh, Liam Jordan, Khanyiso Mayo and Itumeleng Shopane.
Much is also expected of KZN Academy product Cele, who signed for second-tier side Real Sporting Clube in August after he caught their attention during the 2015 edition of the annual Durban International Tournament.
"The call-up is exciting news for me but at the same time it encourages me to work even more hard. It's an indication that I need to work even more," Cele tells snl24.com/kickoff from Lisbon.
Cele recently joined forces with Gestifute, an agency headed by 'super agent' Jorge Mendes, who represents the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel Di Maria, James Rodriguez and Jose Mourinho.
The 19-year-old is aware the recognition brings extra scrutiny.
"I can say this is something huge for me but at the same time I don’t want to view it as something huge. I want to work hard because there’s nothing that will defeat putting in more effort," he says.
"Of course there’s pressure but pressure is always there. If guys like him [Mendes] sees the potential it’s possible that I will arrive to their level in the near future in world football.
"But I have to put it aside that I’m in the hands of Gestifute and I just need to focus on my own game. I haven’t seen Jorge as he’s always busy, but I’m in touch with people who work for him in his office in Lisbon."
Meanwhile, Cele says he is still in close contact with KZN Academy manager Gugu Marawa and director of football Carlos Catalino. The academy has provided Brian Hlongwa to Orlando Pirates, Nkanyiso Zulu and Menzi Ndwandwe to AmaZulu, Luyanda Ntshangase to Maritzburg United and Linda Bhengu to Cape Town All Stars in its three years of existence.
"Madam Gu and Carlos, we speak on a daily basis and I do thank them for this. It’s even hard to put into words and I don’t how to say it. But they know how much this means to me and I appreciate everything they have done for me," Cele concludes.
