South Africa under-17 setup Brazil rematch in BRICS U-17 final

The South Africa under-17 national team beat Russia 3-1, thanks to goals from Lyle Forster, Mswati Mavuso and Luke Le Roux in their penultimate clash on Thursday afternoon.

Molefi Ntseki's side went into the half-time break locked at 1-1 after Forster opened the scoring in the 21st minute, before Skrobotov Ilia bagged an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Less than 10 minutes after the restart Mavuso restored South Africa's lead, before he limped off the pitch to be replaced by Sifundo Nkosi in the 77th minute.

Russia surged forward in search of a second equaliser, but captain Le Roux led from the front to hand his team a two-goal cushion in the 82nd minute.

The victory means Amajimbos will square off with Brazil in the final, with Ntseki and his boys hoping to avenge their 3-0 defeat from Tuesday evening.

The final is set to take place on Saturday.
