Roger de Sa is on a mission to find the right Under-23 players for Cape Umoya United

A name change and relocation means De Sa and his consortium are making a fresh start and there will be a lot of new faces to replace the ones that are expected to leave the club.

With the Under-23 rule in the First Division, De Sa says he will be in the market to find some young talent that will help them make their way back up to the PSL.

“I think the main thing in this league is that you are going to need a lot of U-23s. That’s crucial,” De Sa tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“That’s basically what I have been doing. I have been getting lists of players that are under the age of 23. There’s quite a few of them, but you need to make sure you get the right ones. Hopefully we can get the right ones.”

De Sa would not reveal which players Stars have released, but snl24.com/kickoff has been informed that the likes of Lehlogonolo Masalesa, Raymond Monama, Mbongeni Mzimela, Enocent Mkhabela and Robert Ng’ambi will not be part of the side when the new season commences.

Cape Umoya, meanwhile, will get their pre-season preparations underway today, as confirmed by De Sa last week.
