Toni Silva eyes Mamelodi Sundowns debut in CAF Champions League group campaign

Silva joined The Brazilians on a free transfer after parting ways with Greek Super League club APO Levadiakos in March, penning a five-year deal.

The 24-year-old former Liverpool midfielder, having recently explained his decision to leave Europe for South Africa, has also set out his targets following his arrival for pre-season.

"I'd love to achieve everything, of course. I've seen them play, and it's a good team that plays good football," Silva tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I hope I can help the team win everything possible this season, because that's what we all want.

"Football is ... what do we play for? We play for love and to win trophies, and that's why I'm here. Let's see what we can get.

"But, football is still football, you know. Today we can win and tomorrow we might lose, but I'm expecting to win everything. Let's just see what happens."

Sundowns are set to return to action when they visit AS Togo-Port in their third-round Group C Champions League clash next week Tuesday.

The Guinea-Bissau international could potentially make his debut and says he is licking his lips at the prospect of being able to play competitively for the first time since March.

"I'm very excited for our first game next week. I've been about three or four months without playing, so I'm looking forward to starting again," he adds.

"I'm very, very excited to just get in there, to be honest."
