Amid Riveiro links, Morocco coach vows to leave If..,

Morocco national team coach Walid Regragui has given a huge update regarding his future with the team amid Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro's recent links to Atlas Lions.

Recent media reports suggested that Regragui’s future with Morocco is uncertain, indicating that he might leave the team, even before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which is set for December and January 2026.

Amid Regragui’s reported impending exit, it was reported that the Buccaneers' coach is the leading candidate to succeed him in Morocco. Riveiro's exit at the end of the season has been confirmed recently by the Pirates.

Nonetheless, after these rumours emerged, Erem News reported that sources affiliated with the Moroccan Football Federation refuted these claims, asserting that the 49-year-old coach will remain in his position.

Now, Regragui has also stated that he will vacate his role when his contract with MFF ends in January 2026, but only under one condition.

"I have a contract until the 2026 World Cup but if we don't win the 2025 AFCON, that contract will end and I will leave," Regragui told El Chiringuito, according to Pan Africa Football.

When he was questioned about whether his contract included a clause concerning a continental title, the coach said: "No, it's not stipulated that way but I know this job. If you don't win, you know what you have to do. It's logical."

"These kinds of things don't scare me. What matters to me today is the squad's preparation. We have six or seven months to prepare well before the Africa Cup of Nations."

Morocco, which will be the host of the 2025 AFCON, have been drawn in Group A with Mali, Comoros, and Zambia.
