The South African star left Al Ahly during the January 2025 transfer window and joined Qatar SC on a six-month deal, according to Transfermarkt.

It was also reported that the deal includes an option to extend his contract in Doha by a further two seasons, should he impress before the end of the current campaign.

So far, the forward has registered a modest four assists in eight league games, averaging a goal contribution every other match.

While his future in Qatar is yet to be decided, it is now reported that the 30-year-old has been offered a move back to Egypt next season.

According to journalist Amir Hisham, who was speaking on the Plus 90 programme on Al-Nahar TV, an agent has offered Tau to Egyptian giants Zamalek SC.

Zamalek are said to be considering the offer, and a decision has not yet been made regarding the signing of the Bafana Bafana player.

According to Transfermarkt, Qatar SC paid €155,000 (R3.3 million) for Tau’s transfer from Al Ahly four months ago.
