A Zamalek chief has clarified the club's stance on head coach Jose Peseiro amid reports that the former Nigeria manager's future hangs in the balance after a defeat to Stellenbosch FC in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Egyptian Premier League powerhouse were eliminated from the tournament by the Betway Premiership side after a 1-0 loss on aggregate in the quarterfinals.
Peseiro's team played to a goalless draw with Stellies in the first leg of the quarterfinals in South Africa before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat in the second leg at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt on Wednesday night.

After a home loss, reports suggested that the seasoned Portuguese mentor could be dismissed for not advancing to the semi-finals.
Nevertheless, Zamalek board member Hussein El-Sayed was quoted denying the rumours, confirming that Peseiro will continue with the club despite failing to beat the Cape Winelands team over two matches.
"It is not true what is being reported about Peseiro leaving Zamalek after the recent defeat to Stellenbosch," El-Sayed said per Sport.ElwatanNews.Com.
"Peseiro will continue to lead the team as normal, and there is absolutely no intention of him leaving despite the recent defeat."

Peseiro joined Zamalek in February this year on an 18-month deal, taking over from Swiss coach Christian Gross, who was appointed in December 2024 and was let go in February.
It remains uncertain whether the former Nigeria tactician will be dismissed for failing to qualify the two-time CAF Confederation winners to the semi-finals.
Stellenbosch will face Tanzanian giants Simba SC, coached by former Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids, in the Confederation Cup semi-finals.
