Esteghlal star gives Pitso verdict amid 5-game unbeaten run

An Esteghlal star has shared his verdict on Pitso Mosimane following the team's impressive five-game unbeaten streak.

The Capital Blues secured a 1-0 win over Mes Kerman on Thursday, earning their place in the round of 16 of the Iranian Hazfi Cup. Gustavo Blanco's decisive goal sealed the victory and propelled his side into the tournament's next stage.

The South African tactician appears to have turned the team's fortunes around after a rocky start, which saw the team suffer three consecutive defeats following his appointment.

Since then, the former Al Ahly boss has guided the team to three wins and two draws, fostering optimism within the club.

Speaking after the cup tie, Esteghlal defender Iman Salimi praised Mosimane's impact on the squad.

"Certainly, Mosimane's thoughts have helped us a lot," the 28-year-old said, per Footballi.

"At the beginning of the season, I feel that our team had a concentration problem. Mosimane brought calmness to the team, and our situation has improved," he added.

When asked about the team's physical conditioning, Salimi said: "I can't comment, but our team is getting better gradually."

The defender also highlighted the discipline Esteghlal displayed during their victory over Mes Kerman.

"Mes Kerman was a very respectful team. Especially in the first half, they closed the spaces and challenged us," Salimi stated.

"The Hazfi Cup is a tough challenge for any team. Overall, our team discipline was good, and we were able to control the game and win."

Mosimane and his team will now shift their focus back to the league as they prepare to face 11th-placed Gol Gohar on Sunday. The Capital Blues currently sit 10th in the standings, but a win over the weekend could see them climb higher in the table.
