A Ghanaian star has now been urged to ignore all call-ups to the national team.
Ghana recently made headlines after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, marking the first time in two decades they have missed the tournament.
The side dropped from 73rd to 77th in the FIFA rankings, while also falling to 14th on the continent.

Upon closer inspection, Ghana's issues have persisted for some time. They also failed to progress beyond the group stage of the most recent AFCON in the Ivory Coast earlier this year.
The West African giants finished third in their group behind Cape Verde and Egypt, collecting only two points from three games, which led to the sacking of then-head coach Chris Hughton.
At AFCON 2023, they were without a former key player in their squad, Baba Rahman. The former Chelsea star withdrew from Ghana's provisional squad for the tournament.
The defender was jeered by Ghanaian fans during the qualifiers leading up to the last AFCON, prompting him to stay away from the national team.
Former Ghana international Sam Johnson has now encouraged Rahman to reject any future call-ups to the national team.
"If I were him, I wouldn't come because he has suffered a lot from Ghanaians, including some of us," Johnson said, according to MyJoyOnline.
"If I were him, I don't care whether I'm playing like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo; I wouldn't come. But that decision is up to him. If I were in his position, I'd be done with the national team."
Rahman recently told the BBC that his focus is now on his Greek club PAOK, despite some fans calling for his return.
"Fans are asking me all the time to come back to play for Ghana, but I think I need to take care of my health before everything right now," said Rahman.
"People know about my injury history, and it has really been a difficult few years. I just want to enjoy my club football again, and then I know my international career will take off again too."
