FC Barcelona were crowned Copa Del Rey champions after a 3-2 victory over fierce rivals Real Madrid in extra-time on Saturday evening.
Madrid recalled Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy, Jude Bellingham, Dani Ceballos and Rodrygo, while Ferran Torres started in place of the injured Robert Lewandowksi for Barcelona.
Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti were pushed into a substitution eleven minutes in as a collision forced Ferland Mendy to vacate for Fran Garcia.
Madrid struggled for momentum in the earlier stages and needed a relentless near post save from Thibaut Courtois to guide a goal-bound header from Jules Kounde into touch.
Courtois was undone minutes to the half-hour mark after Pedri made a deep run from midfield and slammed a layoff from Lamine Yamal into far corner.
Barcelona continued on the prowl a minute to halftime and had a teasing corner from Dani Olmo rolled through the defence and bounced off the upright.
Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti refreshed his attack after the break and brought on Kylian Mbappe in the place of Rodrygo.
The change injected renewed energy and almost got level when a low shot from the right of the area by Vinicius Junior forced Wojciech Szczesny to get down and make a save.
Madrid were rewarded in the final 20 minutes when a free-kick from the edge of the box by Mbappe bounced off the foot of the post and to the back of the net.
Los Blancos took the lead six minutes later after Aurelien Tchouameni sneaked in-behind Kounde to head in from the centre of the area following a corner-kick.
Barcelona got back on level terms five minutes to the end when Torres ran onto a long ball over the top by Yamal and rounded a charging Courtois before firing into an empty net.
There was drama late on after Barcelona got a penalty in added time for a foul on Raphinha, but it didn’t stand following a Video Assistant Refere (VAR) review.
With extra-time signalled, both sides continued to go at each other and a snap shot from a tight angle by Torres rolled across the face of the far post.
Hansi Flick's charges snatched victory five minutes from time when Kounde picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area and fired in the bottom-corner, handing the club their 32nd Spanish Cup.
