To ensure the Blues could take their time in their search for a new boss, co-owner Todd Boehly hired Frank Lampard to take over in an interim capacity until the end of the season.
In recent weeks, it was claimed Julian Nagelsmann was the front-runner for the permanent position, while ex-Spain boss Luis Enrique and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino were also being considered.
However, the former Bayern Munich head coach reportedly pulled out of the running following talks with Chelsea, while Enrique is said to have fallen down the Blues' pecking order after a face-to-face interview.

According to the Metro, Chelsea are now closing in on the appointment of the Argentine as their new manager.
Reports suggest there is a growing confidence that talks with the former Paris Saint-Germain boss will be successful, and that confirmation of his appointment could be imminent.
