Chelsea 'plotting' daring move for bitter rivals' forward

Chelsea are reportedly plotting a daring transfer for one of their biggest rivals' attackers.

The Blues have now taken an interest in Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe, according to the Daily Mirror.

The news outlet reports that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add the 23-year-old to his squad before the transfer window closes on Friday night, with the Argentine said to feel that his side is still missing a spark in attack.

The Blues have already spent more than £300 million (R7 billion) on new signings in this window, and could add to that figure with the signing of the Arsenal academy graduate.

Despite dazzling the Gunners faithful with fine performances and being the club's joint-top goalscorer in the 2021/22 campaign, Smith Rowe has struggled for regular game time at the Emirates after coming back from a groin injury earlier this year.

The former Huddersfield Town loanee has made 97 appearances for Arsenal's senior side to date, scoring 18 goals and creating 11, but it is believed he could see a move to Stamford Bridge as an opportunity to reignite his career.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are also looking at FC Barcelona's Ferran Torres and Raphinha as potential signings.

Torres has played back-up to star striker Robert Lewandowski at the Camp Nou but is said to not be entirely happy with that role, while the Brazilian winger has seemingly fallen down the pecking order after the recent emergence of 16-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

The Blues bounced back from their 3-1 defeat to West Ham United by beating Luton Town by three goals to nil in an impressive attacking display on the weekend, with Raheem Sterling getting on the scoresheet with a brace and new boy Nicolas Jackson recording his first goal in blue.
