Darwin Nunez's late brace helped Liverpool secure a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Alexis Mac Allister maintained his spot in the side after last weekend's red card was overturned while new boy Wataru Endo got his first start for the club.
There were bright moments from both early on, through Sandro Tonali, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, with the Magpies rattling the six-time European champions.
Gordon answered midway in the first half when he intercepted Mohamed Salah's stray pass to storm through on goal for a composed finish beyond a diving Alisson Becker.
Matters were compounded for the Reds on the half-hour mark when Virgil Van Dijk upended Isak in a dangerous position and received a straight red card.
The dismissal forced a change of approach from the Reds and saw Joel Matip come in for Luis Diaz, just moments before Alisson produced a miraculous stop to prevent Miguel Almiron doubling their lead.
Almiron missed a clearer chance minutes after halftime when he bundled a loose ball to the far side of the offensive area over the top.
The Argentine was in again in the last 15 minutes where he made a darting run from an acute angle and curled off the upright before seeing the follow-up guided away for a corner-kick.
Liverpool pulled level with nine minutes to go after substitute Nunez pounced on a defensive mix-up wide of the area and drilled into the bottom corner.
Nunez would have the final say in added time when he opened up an angle to get onto Salah's through pass and beat Pope with a solid finish to seal the comeback win.
