Manchester United have released striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Despite a fine maiden campaign at Old Trafford, the former Sweden international does not appear on the list of players retained by the club for next season.

It is not a huge surprise given that Ibrahimovic may not play again in 2017 after a horrific knee injury in April.

United had an option to extend his contract for a further season, but have decided not to.

The 35-year-old scored 28 goals in 46 appearances for United in the 2016/17 campaign, a season in which United won the League Cup and Europa League.

Across town, Manchester City have decided against retaining goalkeeper Willy Caballero, winger Jesus Navas, and full-backs Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna.
