Marco Verratti hands Paris Saint-Germain ultimatum

Verratti has been widely linked with a move to the Spanish giants, who have been reportedly persuing the Italian midfielder for some time.

The 24-year-old has held talks with the Ligue 1 club, expressing him desire to leave the Parc des Princes following a disappointing season in which they surrendered the title to Monaco and shockingly dropped out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 to Barca.

This week, the Parisians bosses have promised to offer the former Pescara anchorman a lucrative new deal as well as spending spree to beef up the squad ahead of the 2017/18 season.

However, Verratti has refused to sign until the club shows they have bought "champions".

"If they do, I will be happy to stay. But every year they say they will make a big team and then we have seen the results.

"The promises from PSG alone are not enough, but if this time [sporting director Antero] Henrique keeps to what he says, then I will be happy to stay, no one at all obliges me to leave."
