South African-born Joel Untersee close to leaving Juventus

The 22-year-old Swiss junior international is eager for first team football but is behind Brazilian star Dani Alves in the pecking order in Turin.

Serie A side Palermo had expressed an interest last week, but have so far failed to follow-up on that.

Now two Serie B teams have entered the race, with reports in Italy saying both Brescia and Avellino want to bring him on board.

Brescia have been described as ‘close’ to securing a deal for the Roodeport-born star, who had spent the last two-and-a-half years playing in the Swiss league with Vaduz.

Untersee was identified by Juventus in 2011 and joined their academy that year, but has yet to wear the famous black and white stripes of the Turin club in a competitive fixture.

He has also yet to be capped at senior international level by Switzerland and as such would be available for Bafana Bafana, if there was interest from the national team selectors in his services.
