Tottenham Hotspur legend David Ginola has urged the English Premiership club to keep hold of striker Harry Kane

The 23-year-old striker has been England’s top scorer for the last two Premier League seasons, and is a reported transfer target for Manchester United.

"Harry Kane should stay at Spurs for Spurs to win the league next season," Ginola told talkSPORT.

"For Spurs, it is very important because they finished runners-up, had a great season and they need to keep their best assets if they want to win anything in the next few years."

But should Spurs be willing to sell, Ginola believes the club should demand a similar fee to the £86m Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale in 2013, or what Chelsea will have to pay Everton for Romelu Lukaku.

"Remember when Gareth Bale left Spurs to go to Real Madrid for £80m or £100m? Now you have a few players worth this kind of money," Ginola added.

"When you think about strikers who can score more than 20-25 goals in the league you need to put the money on the table for them."
