A new development has reportedly emerged regarding Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi's widely speculated return to his former club FC Barcelona.
Things seems to have taken a sharp turn in the 35-year-old's potential return to his boyhood team Barca.

With Messi holding his cards close to his chest about his club future, the player is said to only be willing to make a decision regarding where he will be playing next season when the 2022 FIFA World Cup concludes.
Over the past few months, various reports in Spain have suggested that the record Ballon d'Or holder would be open to a return to the Camp Nou as long as he is not given a secondary role in Xavi Hernandez's side.
The Catalan giants have also confirmed they can afford to pay his massive salary upon his potential homecoming as a free agent, but there have also been reports stating the player still has a fractured relationship with club president Joan Laporta.
Meanwhile, in France, it was reported earlier this week that Les Parisiens' football advisor Luis Campos is reconsidering extending the 35-year-old's contract in Paris due to his age.
The PSG chief is reportedly keen to rejuvenate the playing squad, and with Messi set to be 36 years old by the time his current deal expires in June 2023, Campos is said to want to focus on players for the future instead.
Now, the situation appears to have taken an unexpected turn, with Onda Cero journalist Alfredo Martinez reporting that the Argentina captain is bothered by the rumours linking him with a sensational move back to the Camp Nou.
It is also claimed that there has been no official approach or contact between the Argentine's camp and Barcelona involved, and that the potential transfer is unlikely as a result.

Perhaps controversially, Messi liked an Instagram post made by Inter Milan and Albiceleste star Lautaro Martinez celebrating the Italian giants' 3-3 result against Barca in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Blaugrana are now on the verge of successive group-stage elimination from the UCL as their fate no longer lies in their hands, with a win for Inter over Viktoria Plzen on 26 October sure to knock Xavi Hernandez's side out of the prized competition.
