Xavi, however, has backed his side to dominate their long-time rivals in the final set to be played on Sunday, 14 January.

"I think that in the league Clasico, we dominated most of the match. I can compare it to last season's final. I think that we can dominate them and win," Xavi said after the game per GOAL.

The semi-final was goalless until the 59th minute when Robert Lewnadowski broe the deadlock. The former Bayern Munich talisman received the ball from teammate Ilkay Gundogan and despite being surrounded by opposition bodies, managed to get a shot away. His attempt resulted in the opening goal of the encounter.

Talented Barca prospect Lamine Yamal came on as a substitute and became the youngest player to have ever appeared in the competition. He then went on to score a stoppage time goal that sealed the victory for the Catalan side.

The Barcelona manager added that he was pleased with his team's performance.

"We put in a serious performance and I am happy, it gives us morale and confidence ahead of the final against Real Madrid. It was not a brilliant performance, just a good one," he told the club's official website.

"Real Madrid are in good form. We will try to dominate the game and we will try to impose ourselves on the contest to show our DNA in the Clásico. We are super motivated against Madrid in the final," he added.
