Amorim on Rashford exit comments: He's right!

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has issued an immediate response to Marcus Rashford's comments about him being ready to leave the club.

On Tuesday, Rashford admitted that he now wants to try a new challenge amid his struggles to perform consistently at Old Trafford.

His comments coincided with recent reports that United were considering cashing in on him in the January transfer window with the aim of securing funds to boost Amorim's squad next month.

Moreover, Rashford was left out of United's squad that won 2-1 against rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

In an interview with journalist Henry Winter on Tuesday, the 27-year-old insisted that he would not leave with any bad blood, as other players have in the past, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard springing to mind in recent years.

Rashford's comments have unsurprisingly landed on Amorim's doorstep, and the tactician has now addressed the situation ahead of the Red Devils' quarter-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

"He is right. We have here a new challenge, the biggest in football," Amorim said when asked to respond to Rashford's comments, according to The Independent.

"We are in a difficult situation. I hope all my players are ready.

"He's our player and he's ready for the next game," Amorim said. "I spoke with a lot of players individually and during training.

"What I want is to take the best of Marcus Rashford and the other players. I don't talk about the future. I talk about the present.

"I want the best of each of them. I just want to win and help the team to be better. We are better with Marcus Rashford, that's simple, and we try our best to push Marcus Rashford to the level he was at before."
