The 12 stars 'in danger' ahead of massive Man Utd clearout

Manchester United are reportedly planning a massive clearout at the end of this season, with these 12 players said to be in danger.

After Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 27.7% purchase of the club was confirmed earlier this week, the British billionaire is planning to orchestrate a considerable overhaul of the current squad, according to ESPN.

Erik ten Hag's men endured an underwhelming start to the season, but have slowly clawed their way back into the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Despite climbing to sixth spot on the table after winning their past four matches, however, some believe the team is still not firing on all cylinders.

The Manchester club has a goal difference of just one, having conceded 34 times over the course of the season, while netting 35 strikes in 25 games, showing the side's issues at both ends of the field.

Ratcliffe is thus reportedly keen on moving a number of first-team players on from Old Trafford in a bid to speed up the progress being made on the pitch.

It is also believed that while the club will have funds for the transfer window at the end of the season, there are concerns around the possibility of breaching the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules that could limit its movement in the market.

In order to avoid this, however, the new co-owner is said to have recognised the need to move certain players on to also enhance their budget for the next window.

The list of first-team stars who could see their United careers come to an end this season is said to include Christian Eriksen, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof.

Anthony Martial, meanwhile, will reportedly leave Old Trafford as a free agent when his contract expires in June, and while Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Facundo Pellistri and Brandon Williams are currently out on loan, it is believed the Red Devils are open to selling them too.

Ratcliffe has also confirmed that the club is yet to make a decision on the future of Mason Greenwood, who is spending the season out on loan at Getafe.

United are believed to have prioritised the signing of a striker and a defender in the next transfer window, with the aim of increasing the overall quality within the squad.
