Transfer news: Juventus plot move for Chelsea star Jorginho

Having already completed one signing earlier this week, Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo is reportedly now looking to raid Chelsea of one of their star players.

On Wednesday, the reigning Serie A champions completed an €18.5 million (R334 million) deal to sign USA international Weston McKennie from Schalke 04 on a permanent deal after the 22-year-old impressed on loan during the first half of the season.

However, securing McKennie's future is reportedly only the start of manager Pirlo's plan to remould his midfield ahead of the next season, with the former Italy international said to be concerned by the fitness of Aaron Ramsey and Arthur, and the form of Rodrigo Bentancur.

According to TuttoSport, the 41-year-old has identified at least three players he would like to bring in to bolster his midfield including former Bianconeri star Paul Pogba, who has returned to his best form at Manchester United this season.

However, the finances involved in signing the France international appear likely to prove a stumbling block to any potential deal, which is why Pirlo is also said to be courting Chelsea midfielder Jorginho and Sassuolo's Manuel Locatelli as alternatives.

Juve have held an interest in Jorginho's signature since former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri's time at the helm in Turin and it appears as though the incumbent boss holds the Brazilian-born Azzurri star in similarly high regard.
