FC Barcelona avoided a scare in the second leg against Borussia Dortmund and booked their spot in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
The LaLiga leaders left nothing to chance and started fearsome trio Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, while Serhou Guirassy lead the home side’s attack once again.
Barcelona, who were resounding victors in the first-leg last week, trailed in the opening minutes when Guirassy fired in from the penalty spot.
Guirassy continued to cause problems and doubled the lead earlier in the second half with a point-blank finish off the head as the Blaugrana went to sleep at the back.
The Blaugrana got a lifeline minutes later when an attempted clearance by Ramy Bensebaini fired into his own net while trying to cleear Fermin Lopez's cross.
Guirassy upped the ante inside the remaining ten minutes as he capitalised on a defensive error by Ronald Araujo to make it three and completed his hat-trick.
However, it was a case of too little too late for the Black and Yellow as a commanding 5-3 aggregate lead steered the Blaugrana to the semi-finals.
Aston Villa 3-2 Paris Saint-Germain (4-5 agg.)
French champions Paris Saint-Germain contained a buoyant Aston Villa to advance to the semi-finals 5-4 over two-legs.
Villa made one change from the first-leg as Amadou Onana came in for Jacob Ramsey, while PSG surprisingly started rising star Desire Doue on the bench and welcomed Marquinhos back in defence.
Morocco star Achraf Hakimi stunned the host in the 11th minute when he pounced on a loose ball in the box to finish from close-range.
The Clarets conceded again around the half-hour mark through a calmly taken finish off the inside of the post by Nuno Mendes.
Youri Tielemans reduced the visitors advantage ten minutes before halftime through a first-time shot off a forward pass by John McGinn.
McGinn levelled it up ten minutes into the second half after his long-range effort deflected off Willian Pacho and nestled the back of the net.
Villa completed the comeback moments later as Ezri Konsa made good use from superb forward-play Marcus Rashford and netted with relative ease.
The home side's fight back wasn’t enough as they bowed out of the tournament, with the French champions progressing to the last four for the second season running.
