It never rains but pours for Wydad Athletic Club as the team has reportedly been fined by FIFA due to an alleged unfair dismissal of a player.
As per a report from Morocco, FIFA has imposed a fine on Wydad for the unfair dismissal of Mauritanian international Mohsine Bedda.
The 27-year-old central midfielder joined the Red Castle in July 2024 but was released just weeks later, with the team’s technical staff, headed by Mokwena, reportedly unimpressed by his skills.

After his exit from Wydad, which was characterized by a mutual termination of the contract, Bedda subsequently signed with the Red Castle's fierce rival Raja Casablanca.
Now, as per Mauritanian journalist Ahmed Lamam, cited by LesiteInfo, Wydad, under the leadership of President Hicham Ait Menna, has been ordered to pay $45,000 (R849,000) to Bedda for their unfair dismissal.
The report has noted that the Botola Pro League club and Bedda had reached an agreement that the player would receive compensation of at least $45,000 (R849,000) for the contract termination.
It has been mentioned that FIFA has granted the three-time CAF Champions League winners at least 45 days to meet their financial responsibilities to Bedda. Non-compliance could lead to sanctions, such as a ban on signing players.

This comes at the back of recent reports indicating that Mokwena, along with technical director Allan Freese, assistant coach Sinethemba Badela, and goalkeeper coach Sean Louw, have not been paid for eight months.
Mokwena and the club's board have concurred that the coach will remain in his position at least until the end of the season. This comes after a meeting where the 38-year-old coach was reportedly seeking a significant sum had they terminated his contract.
