'€95m Man Utd star is like Messi and Maradona'

A former Manchester United star has now claimed that a certain Red Devils player, who is one of the club's most expensive signings ever, "is like Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona".

United appear to be on an upward trajectory following their poor start to the season, which saw them lose their first two matches under new boss Erik ten Hag, including a 4-0 defeat to Brentford on matchday two.

Since then, the club has rallied to sixth place on the Premier League table, with wins over the likes of log leaders Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

New signing Antony has been one of the team's best performers following his mega €95 million (R1.7 million) transfer from Ajax Amsterdam in August.

The 22-year-old has the joint-second-most goals for the club so far in this campaign with three strikes, a tally that puts him behind only Marcus Rashford who has five goals to his name.

Former United and England defender Wes Brown has now hailed the Red Devils' new Brazilian, insisting that the winger's left foot is like that of two of Argentina's most celebrated footballers in history.

"[Antony's left foot] is like Messi and Maradona!" Brown told Top Rated Casinos.

"Ultimately, the left foot is a wand, he's got great skill, great composure.

"You know he's going to cut in, but I'm telling you, not many people have stopped it yet.

"Arjen Robben is probably the best comparison, he always used to cut in and he rarely went down the line as well.

"But [Antony is] just sharp, knows what he's doing, confident in what he's doing, and is sometimes difficult to mark."

United legend Paul Scholes seems to have a different opinion of Antony, though.

"He seems to be a bit of a one-trick pony," he said.

"He's always cutting inside and either passing back to the fullback or having a shot.

"You're thinking he needs to develop a little bit. It's still early days for him, we know that."
